Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • This position will build and direct our new immunology department as part of the Biology Department
  • Will oversee and direct the activities of the immunology core function within the biology team
  • Collaborate across research and development, experienced in translational biology to support clinical trials
  • Develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the immunology team
  • Work with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and achieve objectives
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and its objectives
  • Participate in corporate development of activities
  • Will develop budgets for capital expenditures and manage CROs
  • Must have strong negotiation skills with vendors and management in order to influence senior leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization
  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through partnership with cross-functional department managers within the company
  • Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities and recommending and implementing changes to methods
  • Writes and reviews manuscripts for publication

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • PhD in Immunology required with 10+ years of drug discovery and development experience
  • Expert knowledge of T and B cell biology as well as antibody engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in flow cytometry and in modern molecular approaches in cell biology and immunology in vitro and in vivo
  • Successful candidate should have a reputation as an emerging leader in the field with a track record of accomplishments and strong publication record
  • Success in securing grant funding from government or foundation sources desired
